E-book FAQs (updated 3/22)

In what format will I receive my E-book?

In response to customer feedback, all 30 Bird E-books are now delivered as downloadable PDFs.

Can I print my PDF?

Yes, but each printed page will be watermarked, both in the header and across the middle of the page.

When I download the PDF, I am prompted to enter a password. Where can I find that password?

The password is displayed to the right of the download link, in red. Like this: Download PDF

Why do I have to enter a password every time I open my PDF?

The PDF password (and watermarking) is how we protect our content from uncontrolled access and distribution.

When I open the PDF, there’s a large watermark across the middle of the page. How do I get rid of that?

  • Firefox users: Open your local copy of the PDF in Adobe Reader.
  • iPad users: Install the free app named PDF Reader Pro – Lite Edition.

The system says I have zero downloads remaining. What can I do?

Send an e-mail to techsupport@30bird.com. We will be happy to reset your downloads.

Can I add notes and highlights to my PDF?

Absolutely! In Adobe Reader, select the text, right-click the selection, and then choose Highlight Text or Add Note to Text. Be sure to save the file when you’re done.

What if I don’t want a PDF? Is your content still available through VitalSource Bookshelf?

Yes! If you don’t want PDFs, simply note in the Comments section of your order that you would prefer VitalSource Bookshelf access codes. If you forget, reply to your order confirmation e-mail with the same request. See below for more information about VitalSource Bookshelf.
