Prerequisites for PMP Certification 

To sit for the PMP Certification exam, a candidate must show proof of their education and experience in project management. 

● Approximately 35 hours of project management training, defined as coursework that focuses on project management learning objectives. A Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® credential can be used in its place. 

● If you have a four-year degree, you must have 36 months of project management experience; if you have a high school diploma or associate degree, you must have 60 months of project management experience. 

The Cost of Taking the PMP Test 

The examination fee was $555 for non-PMI members and $405 for PMI members. A PMI membership costs $129 per year plus a one-time application fee of $10, making the exam marginally more affordable with membership.
